The College believes every opportunity should be provided for each student to develop to his/her maximum potential in order that he/she might become a valuable citizen who contributes to our complex and ever-changing society. We believe Health Unit Coordinator is an art and science that has as its primary focus assembling and maintaining patient health records, processing of patient orders, assuring communication on the unit, and ordering appropriate medical supplies and equipment. We believe that the Health Unit Coordinator must adhere to the patient's right to privacy. We believe that the best knowledge base for practice is a combination of general and technical education. Therefore, education in the Health Unit Coordinator program is based upon general education principles and a specialized body of knowledge and skills that focuses on the preparation of a competent professional. The faculty of the Health Unit Coordinator program believes that learning is an individual and continuous process resulting in a behavioral change which can be measured; and that learning is facilitated and affected by motivation, self-discipline, and structured experience. We further believe that the role of the instructor is to identify learning needs, guide the learner, and establish an environment conducive to learning."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://www.indianhills.edu/academics/health/healthinformatics.php","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}}],"ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:maximumDuration":"P2Y","ceterms:minimumDuration":"P1Y"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=51.0703","ceterms:codedNotation":"51.0703","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Health Unit Coordinator/Ward Clerk"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of nurses or ward supervisors, to perform routine administrative and reception duties in a patient care unit within a hospital or other health care facility.
