The human services major develops a foundation for a service-oriented career, including case management techniques, prevention theories and concepts, and knowledge of human development. Students will develop the skills and knowledge needed to apply a strengths-based approach to empowering clients and addressing adversity. Students gain an understanding of peoples' capacity for growth and change while learning to promote social justice by practicing their skills in the areas of counseling, ethical decision-making, crisis intervention, and advocacy. All human services majors are required to select a concentration to enhance their learning experience.The Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree is not designed to fulfill the educational requirements for any professional credential, such as licenses for clinical psychology or therapy. Post University assists in researching and providing information regarding licensure; however, each state has different requirements for such licensure outside of the required education. Such state requirements may include licensure exams, background checks, certain work experience, and more. It is ultimately the responsibility of each student to manage their own licensure process and to ensure that all requirements are met in order for the student to obtain licensure.
