It involves the creation, operation, analysis, and testing of secure computer systems. It is an interdisciplinary course of study, including aspects of information technology, law, policy, human factors, and risk management, often in the context of adversaries.The goal of the cybersecurity major is to create a technologically capable, business-aware cybersecurity workforce capable of protecting digital assets from a wide variety of adversaries and mitigating the risks associated with modern information technology usage. Through the combination of theoretical foundation and necessary practical experience, the cybersecurity major helps students develop analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills to succeed in the cybersecurity field. The program will enable graduates to seek employment opportunities in government, industry, and nongovernmental organizations.In addition to the overall graduation requirements, the B.S. Cybersecurity major requires each student to complete 62 credits in the major, including 40 upper-division major credits. All prerequisite and required courses must be completed with grades of C- or above.
