In addition, students will learn to prepare and educate patients prior to collecting valuable diagnostic data used to determine heart function. Learners will use machines to monitor the electrical conduction of the heart, acquire EKGs, prepare patients for stress testing, and simulate how to apply Holter monitors. The program also includes background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, and legal aspects of patient contact.\n\nCertification Examination\nAll topics explored in the Medical Emergencies and Electrocardiography (EKG) training program prepare learners for the Certified Electrocardiography Technician (CET) certification examination offered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), as well as for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association.\n\nhis 6-credit program is offered in a combination of online and onsite instruction. Learning takes place on campus for the Medical Emergencies and Electrocardiography course, which can be taken at any New Jersey campus where the course is offered.
