The program also studies the interrelationship\nbetween humans and nature by examining the behavior of\nmatter and natural phenomena. The curriculum prepares\nstudents to deal with the complex environmental problems\nthat confront society by providing a broad, basic under-\nstanding of how physical and human components of the\nenvironment interact. The degree's core courses exam-\nine the relationship between nature and social systems.\nFurthermore, they introduce students to the interplay\nbetween natural and social systems, and the ideological\nfoundations of humankind's attitudes and behaviors with\nrespect to their ever-changing environments. The courses\nare designed to equip students with necessary lab skills\nthat involve the scientific method, and the critical under-\nstanding of the interrelationship between science and\nnature, helping students to be more avid in the studying\nand in the solving of environmental problems that could be\nbetter understood by examing basic behavior and inter-\naction principles of matter and its surroundings. Specifi -\ncally, this program uses an interdisciplinary approach to\nintroduce students to an overview of environmental issues\nfrom a physical science perspective, preparing students\nto research, analyze, and propose solutions to the differ-\nent and intricate environmental challenges that the world\nmay face.\n\nPlease see the college Catalog for the most up-to-date description."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["_:75121d4e-9124-4b54-b5ac-96115428b6d5"],"ceterms:dateEffective":"1901-01-01","ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://www.elac.edu/Explore/Career-and-Academic-Pathways","ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:exactDuration":"P20M"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=55","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=03.0103","ceterms:codedNotation":"03.0103","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Environmental Studies"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that focuses on environment-related issues using scientific, social scientific, or humanistic approaches or a combination.
