We pride ourselves on providing individuals interested in this career path with a robust set of entry level skills and accredited certifications. The spring Firefighter 1 Academy is an intensive, 2 week training program that will satisfy the hands-on job performance requirements set forth in NFPA 1001 and lead to a Firefighter 1 Certification that is dually accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and the Professional Board of Fire Service Qualifications (Pro-Board). This certification carries some prestige as it is recognized throughout North America.Students working towards this certification will be trained and tested in a wide variety of skill sets including: PPE and SCBA, Radio communication, Fire attack, Forcible entry, Ground ladders, Search and rescue, Ventilation/roof cuts, Salvage and overhaul, Ropes and knots, Basic pump operations, Hazardous materials response, Live structural and car fire scenarios.
