Located between New York City and Boston in the shoreline city of West Haven, the University is a diverse and vibrant community of more than 7,500 students from across the globe. STEM Designation: This program is STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)-designated by the Department of Homeland Security. For more information, please see https://www.newhaven.edu/admissions/stem-designated-programs.phpThe bachelor of science in biochemistry is designed to prepare students to enter a collaborative growing field that is essential for discovering how chemical interactions influence biological systems. The program integrates courses in biology and chemistry giving a holistic view of how these disciplines intersect.Program Outcomes:1. Students can effectively apply scientific theory and knowledge to the study of biological and chemical systems.2. Students demonstrate proficiency and work safely conducting scientific experiments and utilizing instrumentation to analyze and evaluate experimental results.3. Students effectively communicate both their knowledge of biology, chemistry, and experimental results orally and in writing.4. Students effectively utilize the print and on-line chemical literature for information retrieval.
Students earning a B.S. degree with a major in biochemistry must complete a minimum of 124 credits. Courses include a selection of courses from both the biology and chemistry Programs as indicated below, completion of 40 credits of the University Core Curriculum with restrictions as listed below, two additional technical electives and one free elective.University Core CurriculumUniversity Core Curriculum Restrictions:- CC 3.1: MATH 2228 (see: https://catalog.newhaven.edu/preview_program.php catoid=26&poid=7583&returnto=1836#tt4367)- CC 4.1: PHYS 1150 (see: https://catalog.newhaven.edu/preview_program.php catoid=26&poid=7583&returnto=1836#tt6117) - CC 3.2: MATH 1117 (see: https://catalog.newhaven.edu/preview_program.php catoid=26&poid=7583&returnto=1836#tt4648) - CC 3.2: MATH 1118 (see: https://catalog.newhaven.edu/preview_program.php catoid=26&poid=7583&returnto=1836#tt6622) - CC 4.2: BIOL 3311 (see: https://catalog.newhaven.edu/preview_program.php catoid=26&poid=7583&returnto=1836#tt1096)

https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-b292f406-b76c-4b0d-8eb0-789488e8f80c
https://catalog.newhaven.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=26&poid=7583&returnto=1836
@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject
[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject
