We consider human diversity and the many ways social groups reflect particular world views. Our students gain a solid grounding in the research methods and materials needed to facilitate the study of traditional arts, and they participate in collaboration and conversation around the significance of culture in relation to a number of universal themes, including belief, health, heritage, mobility, and sustainability. Our discipline emphasizes fieldwork methods to investigate how societies function. Fieldwork involves documenting and learning about people's lives, expressions, and beliefs in context. Through the study of different social groups and cultures, students gain skills in observation, analysis, documentation, reporting, and multicultural understanding. This major prepares you for a range of careers, including those involving the arts, education, historic preservation, communication, cross-cultural understanding, human diversity and social inclusion."},"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://folklore.indiana.edu/undergraduate/folklore-ethnomusicology-ba.html","ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:learningDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:InPerson","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Delivery Type"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"In-Person Only"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Delivery is only face-to-face."}}],"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=05.0209","ceterms:codedNotation":"05.0209","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Folklore Studies"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that focuses on the study of creativity and aesthetic expression in everyday life, as expressed in narrative, literature, performing arts, culture, work, family and community."}}]}
