The Transfer degree ensures enrollment and transfer\nopportunities at California State Universities. The major\nprovides students with a comprehensive understand-\ning and appreciation for the complex linkages between\nthe geosphere, the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, and\nthe biosphere, and the manner in which Earth's differ-\nent landscapes are formed. Students also study the geo-\ngraphic character of human society and activities, and\naspects of globalization in contemporary life. Students\nare trained to analyze and interpret geographic patterns\nusing maps, graphs, Geographic Information Systems and\nother analytic tools commonly employed by geographers\nto interpret our world. The required courses help students\nhone skills in spatial thinking, geographic analysis, land-\nscape interpretation, and field research. Students com-\npleting this degree will be well prepared for upper division\ncoursework in Geography at a CSU. Students are required\nto complete 60 semester units of CSU transferable course-\nwork with a minimum GPA of 2.0, including a minimum of 20\nunits in the major with a grade of \"C\" (or \"P\") for each course\nin the major.
