The program plan of study includes general education and career-focused medical assisting courses. It should be noted that individuals currently employed by medical facilities may qualify to register for the more advanced course offerings.  As multi-skilled practitioners, graduates of the program will be eligible for career positions in the fast-growing, in-demand healthcare industry such as medical offices, hospitals, school-based health centers, health insurance companies, ambulatory and urgent care centers.  The objective of the program is to provide each student the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills in the classroom, the laboratory, and during hands-on experience in the healthcare areas (externship). The mission of the program is to prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.  Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for National Certification Examinations through AAMA and AMT organizations.
