The\ndegree provides students with a foundational set of prepa-\nratory courses designed to maximize their transfer success\nas they pursue a degree in Chicana and Chicano Studies,\nMexican American Studies, Chicano and Latino Studies\nor a related field. The degree is an inter-disciplinary aca -\ndemic program of study that enlarges students' under-\nstanding and appreciation of the intersections of race/eth-\nnicity, socioeconomic position, gender and sexuality and\nthe lives and experiences of Chicanas/Chicanos and Lati-\nnas/ Latinos both historically and in contemporary societ-\nies locally and globally. Students completing this degree\nwill be well prepared for upper division coursework in Chi-\ncana/ o Studies or a related field at a CSU.
