Medical assistants perform administrative tasks, clinical procedures, and laboratory testing in a medical office. They work side by side with doctors, nurses, and other health care staff to treat patients from newborns to senior citizens. \n\nStudents will learn the administrative procedures performed by medical assistants to includ, telecommunications, written communications, patient scheduling, medical records management, and managing facility finances. Students will learn the clinical procedures performed by medical assistants to include obtaining vital signs, measuring height and weight, performing physical examinations, and assisting the physician with procedures. Students will learn the laboratory procedures performed by medical assistants to include venipuncture, capillary puncture, hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, and specialty testing. \n\nThis program is designed to emulate the workforce environment, and as such all students should expect to adhere to attendance and dress standards found in typical medical offices.  Successful demonstration of all skills at workplace-ready levels is required for successful completion.
