Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:Compare and evaluate the effect of agricultural practices on the environment, human health and the economy. Recognize the key components of the Pacific Northwests food system, and the complexities of the interactions between them. Compare the practices and sustainable attributes of various models of ecological and industrialized agriculture. Identify sustainable agricultural principles and practices. Identify and compare the importance of various soil characteristics, ecology, and management for sustainable crop production. Recognize the biological, chemical and physical conditions required for plant growth and reproduction, and identify how these are manipulated to enhance sustainable food production. Recognize both biological cooperators and competitors and how they interact in sustainable crop production. Identify energy alternatives and applications for large and small scale agricultural applications."},"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"http://www.edcc.edu/programs/hort/default.html","ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:exactDuration":"P3M"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"http://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-us":"CredentialStatus"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"}},"ceterms:learningDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"http://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:InPerson","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-us":"Delivery"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"In-Person Only"}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"http://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:OnlineOnly","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-us":"Delivery"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Online Only"}}]}
