Faculty are dedicated to providing candidates with in-depth knowledge of theories of second language acquisition and methodologies, which promote second language literacy and learning at all educational levels. Program faculty share the philosophy that teaching and learning is a lifelong process, as expressed by many educators. Our program models this philosophy by supporting the development of lasting professional relationships among classmates, graduates, and faculty. The theoretical and practical training offered in our master's program allows students and graduates to work and teach in variety of language settings. We guide our students to construct their own educational philosophies within a framework which recognizes and values the many ways learners participate in and contribute to classroom learning communities."},"ceterms:regulatedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-4ea8b911-5659-49e0-b382-8dfed5277bbf"],"ceterms:accreditedBy":["_:8cfc087d-5902-6b11-f80f-fc6c1a4d25e7"],"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-2011.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-2011.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Preschool Teachers, Except Special Education"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Instruct preschool-aged students, following curricula or lesson plans, in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-2012.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-2012.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Kindergarten Teachers, Except Special Education"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Teach academic and social skills to kindergarten students."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-2021.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-2021.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Elementary School Teachers, Except Special Education"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Teach academic and social skills to students at the elementary school level."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-2022.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-2022.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Middle School Teachers, Except Special and Career/Technical Education"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Teach one or more subjects to students at the middle, intermediate, or junior high school level."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-2031.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-2031.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Secondary School Teachers, Except Special and Career/Technical Education"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Teach one or more subjects to students at the secondary school level."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-3011.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-3011.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, and English as a Second Language Instructors"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Teach or instruct out-of-school youths and adults in basic education, literacy, or English as a Second Language classes, or in classes for earning a high school equivalency credential."}}],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"http://catalog.shsu.edu/graduate-and-professional/college-departments/education/school-of-teaching-and-learning/TESOL-med","ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=13.1401","ceterms:codedNotation":"13.1401","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language/ESL Language Instructor"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that focuses on the principles and practice of teaching English to students who are not proficient in English or who do not speak, read or write English, and that may prepare individuals to function as teachers and administrators in such programs."}}]}
