Graduates are able to administer a local area network, install and troubleshoot communication hardware/software and integrate technologies that the business world demands. The program aims to prepare one to be involved in a complex telecommunications environment. Students learn to set up the complete system that facilitates information exchanges between networks. The program offers a theoretical and hands-on approach to networking. For every hour of theory, students get two hours of lab time. Second-year students assist with on-campus networks and get practical experience in a student-run network in the technology lab. They install the network, run the cable, and debug and maintain the system."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"http://www.iowacentral.edu/business/cnt/index.asp","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}}],"ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:exactDuration":"P2Y"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=11.0901","ceterms:codedNotation":"11.0901","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that focuses on the design, implementation, and management of linked systems of computers, peripherals, and associated software to maximize efficiency and productivity, and that prepares individuals to function as network specialists and managers at various levels.
