The certificate of achievement is comprised of eight courses in three distinct learning phases: didactic, clinical and field internship. During the didactic phase, lecture presentations, return demonstrations, and workshops are utilized. In the clinical segment students are rotated through hospital clinical areas and function on a one-to-one basis under direct supervision of a nurse or physician. During the field internship phase, the student is assigned to an active paramedic squad. While in this rotation, the student will perform the full scope of practice of a Paramedic under the supervision of licensed professional. Upon completion of this program students will demonstrate the following Program Learning Outcomes. As required by California Code of Regulations Title 22, students must possess a California Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification to be eligible to participate, 6 months work experience as an EMT, valid driver?s license (class C) required. It is also strongly recommended that the students complete the PreParamedic Course (Allied Health 53) prior to enrollment into the Paramedic Program.
