The HCMC Phlebotomy Technician program provides a 12 week intensive, hands-on training course in blood collection with start dates in January and June.  \r\n\r\nThe program begins with 1 week of initial classroom training to learn the basics of phlebotomy.  The clinical internship follows and consists of observation and practice in multiple types of blood collection in both the hospital and clinic settings.  In addition to practical experience, throughout the program, classes provide further instruction in aspects of blood collection, anatomy of the circulatory system, and other topics important to the career field.  \r\n\r\nThe application deadline for the June Summer program start is April 15, for the January Winter start date it is November 15.   Tuition cost for the 12 week experience is 1600.00. \r\n\r\nThe program is licensed as a career school by the MN Office of Higher Education and 1 of only 2 phlebotomy schools approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).  Graduates earn a certificate of completion and are eligible to take the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Registry exam which awards them with the title PBT(ASCP)cm as a certified Phlebotomy Technician.
