Our students treat a wide variety of patients from the community in the clinic. The Dental Hygiene program at Ivy Tech features small class sizes, which allow for more one-on-one interaction with faculty in the clinic that uses the most current technology for providing dental hygiene care.\n\nThis program begins in the fall semester each year and lasts for two years. It is a full-time, primarily daytime program, and students are in class, labs or clinic Monday - Friday for 16-26 hours per week. In addition, the Dental Hygiene program is a selective admission program. When you apply to the college, you would be accepted into the Healthcare Specialist program with a concentration in Dental Hygiene while you complete the prerequisite requirements. The Dental Hygiene program accepts a limited number of students each year and there is a separate application process. Contact your campus of interest below for more details.\n\nThe dental hygiene program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.\n\nStudents who are admitted to the program will be required to pay for and submit to a criminal background check, drug testing and physical exam. The details and process will be provided at an orientation. Please contact the program faculty for more detailed information."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["_:583d16af-b713-9f2c-5c35-7475e2f45da5"],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://www.ivytech.edu/dental-hygiene/index.html","ceterms:commonConditions":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-b96bddc6-97eb-4824-a39d-d48468324b22"],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:learningDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:InPerson","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Delivery Type"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"In-Person Only"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Delivery is only face-to-face."}}],"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=51.0602","ceterms:codedNotation":"51.0602","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Dental Hygiene/Hygienist"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that prepares individuals to clean teeth and apply preventive materials, provide oral health education and treatment counseling to patients, identify oral pathologies and injuries, and manage dental hygiene practices.
