This section of the Basic Training includes practical demonstration of skills in the pool with liferafts and immersion suits which demonstrate competency in surviving at sea in the event of ship abandonment.Any mariner who successfully completes this Personal Survival Techniques course satisfies the Personal Survival Techniques competencies of Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code, as amended and 46 CFR 11.202 (b)(1).Basic Fire FightingThis 16-hour course is designed for all seafarers with safety or pollution prevention duties. A trainee successfully completing this course will be able to minimize the risk of fire, maintain a state of readiness to respond to emergency situations involving fire, and fight and extinguish shipboard fires. This section of the BT training is two days, and includes one day of classroom theory and one day of live-fire training at Fremont Maritime Services  India Tango, located in Seattle, WA.Any mariner who successful completes this course satisfies the training required by Section A-VI/1, as outlined in Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code as amended, and 46 CFR 11.202(b)(2); AND the Basic Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 11.205(d) and 11.401(g)(1) for an officer endorsement; AND the Fire Fighting training requirements of 46 CFR 13.207, 13.307, 13.407, or 13.507 for any Tankerman endorsement.First Aid \u0026amp; CPRThis 8-hour course is taught by an experienced medical care provider and covers basic First Aid and CPR with emphasis on the techniques and methods used at sea and the actions required to take control upon encountering an accident or medical emergency.Any mariner who successfully completes this course will be able to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or another medical emergency. This course covers the training required by STCW Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-3 of the STCW Code as amended, and 46 CFR 11.202(b)(3); AND if presented within one year of the date of training, the First Aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.205(e)(1)(ii) and 11.205(e)(2)(iii) for original issuance of an officer endorsement.Personal Safety \u0026amp; Social ResponsibilitiesThis 4-hour course is designed for all seafarers with safety or pollution prevention duties.
