The material content of the Skilled Welder Program will provide each student with the opportunity to learn and develop the skill and confidence in each cutting and welding process discipline. He or she will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of both equipment and process requirements when seeking employment in the related field. The demonstration of knowledge and confidence will make the student a more marketable candidate for a company's labor needs. Material content begins with a well-rounded presentation of basic safety guidelines following OSHA-10 training requirements. Building on a solid safety foundation, the journey continues developing skills and confidence with material that includes basic math, blueprint reading for welders, hand and power tools, basic metallurgy and general material handling found in welding environments. Employability, communication and workplace readiness skills help each student's success in a work environment. Specific training modules include metal cutting processes (Oxy/Fuel, Plasma, and Air Carbon Arc Cutting/Gouging), Shielded Metal Arc Welding [SMAW I \u0026 II], Gas Metal Arc Welding [GMAW] including Flux Core Arc Welding [FCAW], and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding [GTAW] processes. Each process learned includes a thorough understanding of proper safe equipment, set-up and operation along with material preparation requirements. This program prepares the student for a certification credential in structural welding. Demonstration of skills will include the flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead weld positions in both groove (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G) and fillet (1F, 2F, 3F, 4F) weld applications. The Skilled Pipe Welder Program continues building technical skills with advanced training and specific focus on pipe welding. Continuing practice of the fundamentals learned in The Skilled Welder Program carry over preparing each student for certification in 1G, 2G, 5G, and 6G pipe weld positions. Successful completion of the Skilled Welder Program is required for entry in the Advanced Skilled Welder Program."},"ceterms:targetLearningOpportunity":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-fc9aacb7-f0c9-403a-8184-57c6f4e0f6ef"]}],"ceterms:offeredBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-be165a49-a874-41b7-99d3-b6d7326ccc6a"],"ceterms:inLanguage":["en-US"],"ceterms:description":{"en-US":"The welding field has a wide range of skill requirements that coincide with job opportunities.
