The primary responsibility\nof a sterile processing tech is to ensure that a clean and sterile healthcare environment is\nmaintained at all times. This is primarily achieved through the process of decontaminating and\nsterilizing all surgical instrumentation and equipment. The SPT program is taught using a\nhybrid/blended learning environment.\n\nStudents enrolled in this program will learn various sterilization techniques, including the proper\nmethod for decontaminating and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment. They will also\ngain a solid understanding of microbiology and infection control. The training includes a\ncombination of lecture and lab hours, as well as a 400-hour clinical internship.\n\nAIMS Education has a dedicated surgical lab that provides the perfect environment to train\nstudents and allow them to practice their psychomotor skills. The practical experience gained\nduring the clinical internship will help reinforce those skills. Graduates of this program will\ndemonstrate behaviors consistent with professional standards and will meet employer\nexpectations for an entry-level position.\n\nUpon satisfactory completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to take the Certified\nRegistered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam offered by HSPA.\n\nAfter completing all program requirements, graduates will be awarded a Sterile Processing\nTechnician Certificate of Achievement.\n\nThis program will be delivered using hybrid learning.
