The program will provide graduates with capabilities in advanced mathematics (including differential equations and statics), science, and engineering. Graduates will be conversant with solving problems at the interface of biology and engineering that may arise in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, as well as medicine and biofuels. By graduation, students will have experience measuring and interpreting data from living systems and addressing the interactions between living and non-living materials.\n \n Students are required to obtain a minimum 2.0 grade-point average in CHE 501 (see: /search/?P=CHE%20501) Introduction to Chemical Engineering I/CHE 502 (see: /search/?P=CHE%20502) Introduction to Chemical Engineering II and in overall standing at the end of the sophomore year in order to continue in the major. Study abroad (Exchange) students are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in math, physics, chemistry, and other required courses at the end of the semester prior to their exchange semester.\n \n For more information on the bioengineering program, please contact Russell Carr, professor and chair, Russell.Carr@unh.edu (see: mailto:Russell.Carr@unh.edu)."},"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.bls.gov/soc/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/11-9041.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"11-9041.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Architectural and Engineering Managers"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as architecture and engineering or research and development in these fields."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.bls.gov/soc/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/11-9041.01","ceterms:codedNotation":"11-9041.01","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Biofuels/Biodiesel Technology and Product Development Managers"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Define, plan, or execute biofuels/biodiesel research programs that evaluate alternative feedstock and process technologies with near-term commercial potential."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.bls.gov/soc/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/17-2031.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"17-2031.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Biomedical Engineers"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Apply knowledge of engineering, biology, and biomechanical principles to the design, development, and evaluation of biological and health systems and products, such as artificial organs, prostheses, instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.bls.gov/soc/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/25-1032.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"25-1032.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Engineering Teachers, Postsecondary"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Teach courses pertaining to the application of physical laws and principles of engineering for the development of machines, materials, instruments, processes, and services.
