Contact Department Chair Monica Thur-\nston at thurstmm@elac.edu for application.\nSatisfactory completion of all courses with a \"C\" or better is\nrequired for all Certificates of Achievement.\nThis certificate program provides instruction and Profes-\nsional Practice Education (PPE) to assist students in devel-\noping the technical skills necessary to maintain compo\nnents of Health Information Systems consistent with the\nmedical, ethical, legal, and administrative requirements of\nall accreditation and regulatory agencies.\nTRANSFER STUDENTS: If any prerequisite courses or core\ncourses have been taken at another U.S. regionally accred-\nited college/university, transcripts should be sent to both\nthe ELAC Office of Admissions and the Health Information\nTechnology Program office located within the Allied Health\nDepartment. Students should initiate a General Petition in\nthe Admissions Office requesting that credit be granted for\nthose courses for which the student feels they are eligi-\nble. Supporting documentation should be attached to the\nGeneral Petition to support the student's request.\nPrerequisite courses or core HTHTEK courses taken at\nanother LACCD campus are not automatically accepted\nand will also need to be submitted by General Petition with\na copy of the LACCD transcript for review by the depart-\nment chair.
