From its early beginnings as a staff function involving the maintenance of records and the administration of benefit programs, personnel administration has grown and expanded to encompass the total development and utilization of human resources in organizations. While company titles may vary from vice president of strategic human resources to vice president for organization planning and development, there are few firms of any size or consequence today that do not have a human resources specialist reporting directly to the company's highest level. This practice reflects the awareness that its human resources are an organization's greatest asset.\n\nFor this reason, the curriculum is designed to acquaint the student with modern human resources management in its broadest sense. Included are the traditional areas of HR administration and labor relations such as employment, management development, wage and salary administration, organization planning, and contract negotiations, as well as developments in the behavioral sciences and the implications for a complete human resources program.\n\nThe objectives at the undergraduate level are to provide the student with a broad spectrum of knowledge for career preparation in organizational leadership; to prepare the student for a career in modern, professional human resources management; and to encourage and develop interest in further study and research in the area of human resources development and utilization. An internship is required to allow the student to fully embody the role of a human resource professional."},"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://business.iusb.edu","ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Deprecated","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Deprecated"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential have ceased."}},"ceterms:learningDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:InPerson","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Delivery Type"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"In-Person Only"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Delivery is only face-to-face."}}],"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=52.0101","ceterms:codedNotation":"52.0101","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Business/Commerce, General"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that focuses on the general study of business, including the processes of interchanging goods and services (buying, selling and producing), business organization, and accounting as used in profit-making and nonprofit public and private institutions and agencies.
