During training students have the opportunity to obtain a variety of skills including engine and transmission repair, welding and cutting, working with electrical and hydraulic systems, lubrication and equipment maintenance, pump and compressor repair, safety, and deciphering equipment manuals. In fact, the mechanic students perform basic maintenance and repair of the heavy equipment used in the IUOE Heavy Equipment Operator Program. Classroom-related education is incorporated into hands-on training in a mechanic shop or in the field on actual construction projects with a heavy emphasis on safety. Students are tested periodically throughout their training to ensure they have achieved the skill levels reflected on their Training Achievement Record."},"ceterms:industryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.census.gov/naics/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.census.gov/naics/?input=5413\u0026year=2022\u0026details=5413","ceterms:codedNotation":"5413","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"NAICS"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Architectural, Engineering, and Related Services"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Architectural, Engineering, and Related Services"}}],"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/49-3042.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"49-3042.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Except Engines"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, and conveyors, used in construction, logging, and mining."}}],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://www.iuoe.org/training/iuoe-job-corps#Mechanic","ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}}}
