The core principles found in every programming language are investigated. Earners design, develop, debug, and test simple applications using your choice from the programming language options.\n\nIT232: Software Design and Development Concepts \nAn intermediate course in the design and development of programs offering a choice of implementation and demonstrating how design and programming concepts are universal. Apply software design techniques, software process models, object-oriented programming concepts, and secure data-handling techniques. In addition, earners design, develop, debug, and test intermediate-level applications using earn choice from the programming language options.\n\nIN240: Game Design and Mechanics\nIn this course earners study the role of the game designer. Earners also study what goes into the game design process, including the role of mechanics in game design. Topics include the game design document and process, gameplay, player perspectives, player immersion, tools used within game design, game mechanics (e.g., movement, inventory, rampability), and storytelling. Earners also investigate the game design business.\n\nIN241: Game Programming. Install and learn to use the Unity game development engine. Using knowledge of the C# programming language and Unity, you will develop a basic 2D video game. Topics include location events and trigger zones; creating and working with textures, movement, and gameplay; event-driven coding; game progression and game rules; sound effects; the importance of documenting gameplay; and the use of a test plan in the continuous process of testing during game development.\n\nIN242: Game Art and Animation In this course you will study the process of adding artistic elements, such as animation, to a video game. You will use graphics software tools to apply visual effects to the video game design and development process. Topics covered include visualization, concept art, character design, world design, technical specifications, animation, and the 12 principles of animation from the Walt Disney Studios®."},"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://catalog.purdueglobal.edu/bulletin/game-development/"}],"ceterms:offeredBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-886e0dba-db0a-40f9-9067-1b282853d3fd"],"ceterms:inLanguage":["en-US"],"ceterms:description":{"en-US":"This micro-credential will prepare students with the foundational programming and game development elements necessary to pursue a career in game design.
