The program prepares the student for the roles of a curriculum and instruc- tional leader, including the following: orga- nizing, supervising, and enhancing literacy programs; coordinating the instruction and assessment of students in reading and lan- guage arts; guiding, improving, and enrich- ing reading and language arts instruction in all content areas; and collaborating with teachers, administrators, parents, and other literacy leaders.\nApplicants must have completed an appro- priate Master's degree, must have a valid teaching certificate (or be eligible for Con- necticut certification) in elementary, middle, or secondary education; must have com- pleted a minimum of thirty months of suc- cessful classroom teaching experience; and must have completed all state required tests, including the Connecticut Foundations of Reading Test.
