What sets\nGSET's programs apart from other similar community col-\nlege programs is its state of the art equipment and its stu-\ndent clubs (Geo-Huskies, Engineering Surveying Society,\nCivil and Environmental Engineering Student Organiza-\ntion) to perform practical and advanced forms of design\nand analysis for land surveying and civil engineering land\ndevelopment projects. GSET's student learning outcomes\ninclude field applications and practical and advanced\nmath topics, and the usage of technology in land sur-\nveying and civil engineering practices. Prerequisite skills\ninclude a basic understanding of geometry and trigonom-\netry, and a desire to be part of a community of practice\nof land surveyors and geospatial engineering technicians\nthat enhances the profession. Professionals and techni-\ncians can be employed in a variety of settings, including\nprivate businesses and government agencies. Upon com-\npleting GSET's programs, students obtain careers as a pro-\nfessional land surveyor or technician, a cartographer or a\nphotogrammetrist, or a civil engineering technician. The\nprogram offers three skills set certificates (5, 6, or 7 units),\na certificate of achievement (16 units), and an associate of\nscience degree (60 units). In addition, GSET provides a pre-\nparatory course for the National Council of Examiners for\nEngineering and Surveying (NCEES), Fundamentals of Sur-\nveying (FS) exam, which if passed successfully, leads to an\nincrease in the likelihood of job placement with public, pri-\nvate and non-profit organizations.
