Once you complete a thorough background check with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, you could be eligible for a sponsorship opportunity that covers your tuition for this academy through the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. As a detention deputy recruit, you are eligible to receive a salary of $39,220 through the sheriff's office while you complete your training. Once you successfully complete the academy and receive a passing score on the state exam, you will continue recruit training in high liability functions at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, where you will have opportunities for special assignments, career development, opportunities for promotion/advancement, and excellent salary and benefits. Please note that you must meet certain admission standards to be eligible for the academy. SPC's Corrections Academy courses prepare you for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement State Certification Examination and transfer to our Associate in Science in Criminal Justice Technology.
