Interventions include therapeutic exercise, patient education, manual techniques such as soft tissue mobilization, functional training, gait training, and modalities. Students learn data collection techniques, how to follow a physical therapy plan of care, and how to assess patient/client safety and response to interventions. Effective education and communication skills are practiced to prepare for interaction with patients/clients, families, caregivers, and other members of the health care team. Legal and ethical aspects of physical therapy are explored.\n\nPhysical therapist assistants (PTAs) work under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. The vast majority of PTAs work in hospitals or privately owned physical therapy practices. Other areas of employment include home health, schools, and rehab units."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/31-2021.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"31-2021.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Physical Therapist Assistants"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Assist physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures.
