It provides the student with the fundamentals of major areas of mathematics, as well as exposure to one or more cognate areas in which mathematics is applied. The program provides the background for further study of mathematics and cognate areas in which mathematics plays a key role. Employment opportunities have traditionally existed in industry, technology, and in financial, actu- arial, and educational institutions.\nA minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is re- quired and a \"C\" or better is required in all math courses. The program requires 36 se- mester hours in mathematics and 12 semes- ter hours in physics and 6 semester hours in computer science, some of which can serve to satisfy general education requirements. The program also requires 6 credit hours of a single foreign language.
