This course covers the structure and functions of the organ systems. The course begins with the cardiovascular system investigating topics such as blood, the heart, blood vessels, and circulatory pathways. Students will explore the endocrine (hormones), lymphatic, immunity, and respiratory systems. They will also investigate how the body obtains energy and controls the composition of fluids with lessons about the digestive and urinary systems, metabolism, nutrition, as well as, fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance. The course concludes with an in-depth look at human reproductive systems, human development from a single cell to an infant, labor and birth, inheritance, and genetic disorders.\n\nIt's recommended that you complete this Anatomy and Physiology II lecture course simultaneously with the Anatomy and Physiology II lab so you fully experience the application and real-world relevance of the subject. It is also highly recommended that you complete the Anatomy and Physiology I lecture and lab previously before taking this course since many of the general concepts learned in Anatomy and Physiology I (levels of organization (chemical, cellular, and tissue), skeletal, muscle, and nervous systems) will continue into the organ systems of this course.\n\nImportant! Please plan ahead. While you can take as many Sophia courses as youd like each month with your membership, you are only allowed to be active in two courses at a time. Taking this lecture course along with the Anatomy and Physiology II lab will occupy your two-course limit."},"ceterms:recognizedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-9c1c2d37-e525-43a3-9cea-97f076b2fe38"],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://www.sophia.org/online-courses/science/anatomy-and-physiology-ii/","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:SecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Secondary School or Equivalent"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those attending secondary (high-school) level programs."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:AssociatesDegreeLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Associates Degree Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those completing college/university-level programs within their first one to two years (lower-division) of post-secondary education."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:BachelorsDegreeLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Bachelors Degree Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those completing college/university-level programs within approximately three to four years where course work and activities advance skills from a lower-division or generalist level to an upper-division level."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:LowerDivisionLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Lower Division Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those in the first half of an undergraduate level program."}}],"ceterms:availableOnlineAt":["https://www.sophia.org/online-courses/science/anatomy-and-physiology-ii/"],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:learningDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:OnlineOnly","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Delivery Type"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Online Only"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Delivery is only via the Internet."}}],"ceterms:assessmentDeliveryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/Delivery","ceterms:targetNode":"deliveryType:OnlineOnly","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Delivery Type"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Online Only"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Delivery is only via the Internet."}}]}
