All course\r\nwork is certified by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and meets\r\nthe mandated learning objectives. The degree also applies for those interested in other areas of the\r\njustice system, however this program is not designed to be a two-year transferable program.\r\nLLTC provides the mandated education for this degree. The mandated skills training is presently provided\r\nby Hibbing Community College. These programs together meet and surpass the Minnesota\r\nrequirements to be a licensed police officer.\r\nOur students come from a range of backgrounds. Some are recent high school graduates, others are\r\nlooking for a career change. For the vast majority, our program is a solid match.\r\nUpon entrance and registration for the Law Enforcement program, all students are required to\r\ncomplete a criminal background check with the State of Minnesota. If a student's criminal background\r\ncheck puts him/her at risk of being ineligible for POST certification, that student will be informed\r\nof such by the Law Enforcement Program Coordinator.
