The Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response (MINER) Act of 2006 requires coal mine operators to annually certify the qualifications of these designated teams. The criteria for certifying the qualifications of coal mine rescue teams under 30 CFR 49.50 include the requirements that members are:\n\n(1) Properly trained annually,\n\n(2) Familiar with the operations of each covered mine,\n\n(3) Participating in at least two local mine rescue contests annually,\n\n(4) Participating in mine rescue training at each covered mine, and\n\n(5) Knowledgeable about the operations and ventilation of each covered mine.\n\nThe MINER Act requires MSHA to update these criteria every 5 years. After a review of these criteria, MSHA has determined that these criteria are still appropriate and that no changes are necessary."},"ceterms:industryType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.census.gov/naics/","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.census.gov/naics/?input=2121\u0026year=2022\u0026details=2121","ceterms:codedNotation":"2121","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"NAICS"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Coal Mining"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Coal Mining"}}],"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/47-5041.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"47-5041.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Continuous Mining Machine Operators"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Operate self-propelled mining machines that rip coal, metal and nonmetal ores, rock, stone, or sand from the mine face and load it onto conveyors, shuttle cars, or trucks in a continuous operation."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://onetonline.org/link/summary/47-5044.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"47-5044.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Loading and Moving Machine Operators, Underground Mining"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Operate underground loading or moving machine to load or move coal, ore, or rock using shuttle or mine car or conveyors.
