The major focus will be on sensing and process flow control with programmable logic controllers and robotic movement for material handling. The programmable logic controllers utilized will be Allen Bradley SLC 500's with the latest version of RSlogixs programming software used. Topics covered will include field installation of the PLC's, input sensing of digital and analog type data, the concerns of an Integration technician in the design of an automated process, and the programming of the PLC.  The robotic manipulators will be of the configuration of both SCARA and Articulated arm type. The topics will include the components of a robotic system, the programs which run a robot, and the physical programming of robots to do material handling. Minor focuses will be computer support, electrical principles (e.g. ohm's law), manual tooling and skill sets (e.g. soldering), mathematics of, and Pneumatic/hydraulic systems and schematics and Electrical/Electronic components of the major focus.    The class will be 15 weeks long. Lecture will be 4 hours each week defining the new concepts, teaching the new skills, and outlining the week's project. The student will then work 16 hours in the lab under instructor supervision developing the skill sets through project completion and repetition.
