The curriculum is designed to produce highly-trained, technically advanced, competent, and caring individuals who are prepared to practice professional nursing in a variety of health care settings.  The purpose of the program is to privde the learner with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude to practice competently and safely as a beginning nurse generalist in a variety of acute and long-term care settings.  The median annual wage for registered nurses is $72,904 ($35.05/hr) according to the Lightcast Q3 2022 Data Set from Economic Modeling Specialists, Inc.   Employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 16 percent from 2020-2029.  Growth will occur for a number of reasons, including an increased emphasis on preventive care, growing rates of chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity, and demand for healthcare services from the baby-boom population, as they live longer and more active lives.
