During the second year, students gain hand-on experience in tool-making, die building, mold making, jig and fixture building, tool room machining, and basic design skills. They are also introduced to manual and coordinate-measuring machine (CMM) inspection. Upon completion of the two-year program, students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.  During the first year, students have the opportunity to complete various levels of this program to meet our rising local need. They gain experience with basic machining on manual and computer-numerical control (CNC) machines, computer-aided drafting (CAD) and computer-aided machining (CAM) programming, lathes, mills, and electrical-discharges machines (EDM). Students can earn a diploma in CNC Machining Technology, a certificate as a CNC Machine Operator, or a certificate as a CNC Machine Set-Up Specialist."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"https://mcc.iavalley.edu/program/machine-tool-technology","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}}],"ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:maximumDuration":"P2Y","ceterms:minimumDuration":"P1Y"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=48.0501","ceterms:codedNotation":"48.0501","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Machine Tool Technology/Machinist"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to plan, manufacture, assemble, test, and repair parts, mechanisms, machines, and structures in which materials are cast, formed, shaped, molded, heat treated, cut, twisted, pressed, fused, stamped or worked."}}]}
