Students will be introduced to safety within these settings, professional liability, and ethics. Consideration is given to the fundamentals of emergencies, infection control, record keeping, safety and hazardous materials, trade and generic medications, pharmacy law, IV order, anatomy and physiology as it relates to medication, aseptic techniques and outpatient prescriptions. In order to gain experience in an actual pharmacy, students will be required to participate in an externship at an approved hospital or pharmacy where they perform duties as a pharmacy aide. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion and qualify to apply and be eligible to sit for national certification.
