This course is designed to prepare students for careers as Medical Assistants. The students will receive extensive clinical training through lecture and hands on techniques under the supervision of a Medical Professional The course covers anatomy, physiology, medical terminology; record keeping, accounting and insurance processing. Students learn laboratory techniques, clinical and diagnostic procedures, pharmaceutical principles, first aid, etc. They study office practices, patient relations, medical law and ethics. They will be trained to schedule the patients appointments, answer phone calls  prepare for the next day clinic, front desk job,  and maintain the accounts, take medical history and record vital signs,  explain treatment procedures to patients, to prepare patient for examination. Sterilization of instruments, drawing blood for lab tests, prepare for x- rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures and change dressings, they are also taught ,insurance procedure with billing and maintain the supplies. This program also includes externship of 100 hours in physicians offices, hospitals, or other health care facilities. After the certification, they can earn $ 15- 20 per hr.  The Pre-request for this course is High school diploma or its equivalent. It is the fastest growing occupation, particularly those with formal training or experience and certification. Clinical medical assistants may advance to other occupations through experience or additional training.
