Our telescopes allow us to peer out from Earth and back in time to observe the origins and evolution of galaxies, stars, and planets. The advancing power of computers allows us to apply astrophysical principles to simulate the evolution of these distant objects to learn about their internal workings. IU Astronomy and Astrophysics majors use telescopes at campus observatories, and students involved in faculty-supervised research projects analyze data from the WIYN 3.5 meter telescope and 0.9 meter telescopes at Kitt Peak and other ground-and space-based observatories.
