Counselors may work as members of treatment teams in inpatient or outpatient settings, or with schools or in businesses. They provide group, individual, and couples therapy as well as assessments and interventions. Chemical Dependency Counselors also work as liaisons to judicial systems, schools, state services, and communities for their clients. Counselors may service as educators in their communities, acquainting members of the communities with treatment options and prevention strategies for the community. The Chemical Dependence Counselor program is undergoing restructuring.
