Graduates of the program will be qualified to pursue a baccalaureate degree at a four-year college or university in an area of interest.The Cosmetology AAS program features studies in the cosmetology areas of: legal aspects, soft skills, life skills, human relations, art, environmental and core life sciences, haircare, skin care, nail care and salon business management. Courses, lab and classroom areas, equipment, technology and supplies are current and based on present cosmetology practices. A dress code for students in the cosmetology program is required. \nStudents of the Cosmetology AAS program are required per the Iowa Board of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences to complete 70 semester credit hours, meet individual compliance and course standards. Upon successful completion of the Cosmetology AAS program, one must pass an Iowa cosmetology licensure exam and meet compliance regulations to practice cosmetology in the state of Iowa. A graduate of the Cosmetology AAS program may enter the workforce and contribute to the cosmetologyprofession in numerous ways (i.e. hair care professional, cosmetologist who practices skin care and and/or nail care, hair colorist, texture service professional, retail professional, education and/or platform artist, manufacture representative, author, salon owner/manager, etc.).
