Prospective students should have interest in pathophysiology, basic medical concepts, patient care and be able to function effectively in a dynamic work environment. The Emergency Medical Studies program of the certificate of achievement meets or exceeds the National Standard Curriculum set forth by the US Department of Transportation and adheres to New Jersey State Emergency Medical Technician Regulations NJAC 8:40 and 8:40A. The program is approved and sanctioned by the New Jersey Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Emergency Medical Serviceswww.state.nj.us/health/ems/. The Certificate in Emergency Medical Studies is intended for prospective students that have obtained an academic degree or for those interested in a healthcare career. Emergency Medical Studies Certificate Entrance Requirements: Prospective students must meet the following requirements to be accepted into the program: Have a current Heath Care Provider CPR certification, or completedEMT 100prior to enrolling inEMT 106. Further Emergency Medical Studies Certificate Information: The mandatory orientation session is held in one week prior to the start of each semester. The exact date will be provided upon enrollment inEMT 106. There is no makeup session for this mandatory orientation session.Students are required to submit proof of current good general health and vaccination status results at orientation in order to meet the clinical portion of the program.
