The\ndegree provides students with a foundational set of pre-\nparatory courses designed to maximize their transfer suc-\ncess as they pursue a degree in Geology or a related field.\nThe major provides students with an overarching view of\nthe origin and evolution of the Earth and its inhabitants in\nthe context of dynamic internal and external processes\ndriving environmental change. Students learn to recog-\nnize the importance and impacts of resource exploita-\ntion. Students gain an expanded sense of self and exis-\ntence through their inquiries into deep time and gain a\ngrowing sense of understanding of the nature of the world\nthrough supportive STEM coursework requirements. The\nrequired courses help students hone skills in spatial think-\ning, quantitative analysis, landscape interpretation, and\nfield research. Students completing this degree will be\nwell prepared for upper division coursework in Geology at\na CSU. Students are required to complete a minimum of\n60 required semester units of CSU transferable coursework\nwith a minimum GPA of 2.0, including a minimum of 30 units\nin the major with a grade of \"C\" (or \"P\") for each course in\nthe major.
