This program consists of online courses which take the learner from general education, through methods of instruction, assessment, and classroom management to special education courses for teaching students with exceptionalities. Candidates develop and refine their skills through a series of sequential experiences beginning with video-based observations of classroom instruction, to prepare candidates for authentic, collaborative, pre-clinical teaching experiences in K-12 settings. Clinical experiences culminate with supervised demonstration teaching experience that consists of two placements, one in an elementary classroom and one in a middle or secondary level classroom. Both placements should support the academic needs of students with mild-to-moderate disabilities.
