We provide training in the folklore subfields of oral narrative, song, material culture, ritual, festival, worldview, and other topics of research interest. Graduate students of ethnomusicology study music as culture, with an emphasis on area studies, theory, and the presentation and preservation of music. Our department is dedicated to the study of expressive forms traditional, contemporary, vernacular, and popular within an integrative academic program.
