The program offers a background in engineering and science so that a design can be accurately represented in drawings. Graduates of this program are prepared to make calculations concerning the strength, reliability, and cost of materials as well as other design considerations. The curriculum includes a strong emphasis on Computer-Aided Design (CAD). This program is certified by the American Design Drafting Association. Upon satisfactory completion of coursework and a minimum GPA of 2.0, graduates can transfer up to 64 credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Also 16 hours of vocational credit already transfers to the Iowa Regent schools."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/17-3013.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"17-3013.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Mechanical Drafters"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Mechanical Drafters"}}],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"http://collegecatalog.iavalley.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=6\u0026poid=675\u0026hl=mechanical+design\u0026returnto=search","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}}],"ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:exactDuration":"P2Y"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=15.1306","ceterms:codedNotation":"15.1306","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Mechanical Drafting and Mechanical Drafting CAD/CADD"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to develop working drawings and electronic simulations in support of mechanical and industrial engineers, and related professionals.
