If you are a physician interested in applying for the RDMS credential with an FE specialty, please visit the website​ for ARDMS's physician-centric companion Council, the Alliance for Physician Certification \u0026 Advancement (APCA). \n\nApplicants may pursue the FE specialty under either the Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential. Once the FE examination is passed under the selected credential, it cannot be switched. To earn an RDMS or RDCS credential with an FE specialty, you must pass the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination and the FE examination within five years.
