Therefore, education in the Dental Assisting Program is based on a specialized body of knowledge and skills related to maintaining dental health and focuses upon preparation of a competent specialized paraprofessional. We believe that learning is an individual and continuous process resulting in behavioral changes which can be measured, that learning is facilitated and affected by motivation, self-discipline and structured experiences and that the role of the instructor is to guide the learner, identify learning needs, and implement the best approaches to meet these needs. We further believe that the Dental Assisting student is an adult learner and as such is ultimately responsible for his/her lifelong learning. We believe that the best knowledge base for practice is a combination of general and technical education. This allows the student to develop into an effective practitioner, responsible, culturally-sensitive citizen and more fulfilled mature individual."},"ceterms:accreditedBy":["https://credentialengineregistry.org/resources/ce-20b0d337-c2de-43b5-a994-d3f4bfc70b78"],"ceterms:occupationType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://www.onetcenter.org/taxonomy.html","ceterms:targetNode":"https://www.onetonline.org/link/summary/31-9091.00","ceterms:codedNotation":"31-9091.00","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Standard Occupational Classification"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Dental Assistants"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Assist dentist, set up equipment, prepare patient for treatment, and keep records."}},{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Dental Assistants"}}],"ceterms:subjectWebpage":"http://catalog.indianhills.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=47\u0026poid=4858\u0026hl=dental+assisting\u0026returnto=search","ceterms:audienceLevelType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/AudienceLevel","ceterms:targetNode":"audLevel:PostSecondaryLevel","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Audience Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Post-Secondary Level"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Intended for those who have completed secondary level school programs or equivalent."}}],"ceterms:estimatedDuration":[{"@type":"ceterms:DurationProfile","ceterms:maximumDuration":"P2Y","ceterms:minimumDuration":"P1Y"}],"ceterms:credentialStatusType":{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://credreg.net/ctdl/terms/CredentialStatus","ceterms:targetNode":"credentialStat:Active","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Credential Status"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Active"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"Awards of the credential are ongoing."}},"ceterms:instructionalProgramType":[{"@type":"ceterms:CredentialAlignmentObject","ceterms:framework":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/Default.aspx?y=56","ceterms:targetNode":"https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/cipdetail.aspx?y=56\u0026cip=51.0601","ceterms:codedNotation":"51.0601","ceterms:frameworkName":{"en-US":"Classification of Instructional Programs"},"ceterms:targetNodeName":{"en-US":"Dental Assisting/Assistant"},"ceterms:targetNodeDescription":{"en-US":"A program that prepares individuals to provide patient care, take dental radiographs (x-ray photographs), prepare patients and equipment for dental procedures, and discharge office administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists.
