Anatomy \u0026amp; Physiology is included in the Paramedic Program. All EMT courses of the paramedic training program will include clinical rotations through many departments in various hospitals and medical facilities. These experiences enable the student an opportunity to observe and/or directly participate in patient care. The rotations include clinical time in the Emergency Room, Intravenous Therapy, Operating Room, Coronary Care and Intensive Care Units, Burn Unit, Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric, Obstetrics and Nursery, and Psychiatric Resource Facilities. In all clinical rotations, the Paramedic Intern will be assigned a preceptor (nurse, physician, paramedic, specialist/technician) who is directly involved with the training in each respective department. Each rotation is evaluated by the Intern and his/her Preceptor; the CES Program Director; and the Medical Director, according to clinical guidelines and objectives.  Specific clinical rotations are completed during each respective course. After successful completion of all Didactic requirements and clinical rotations the student is eligible for the field internship which is approximately 12 weeks. The location of the field internship is assigned by the Program Director. The student's field internship is scheduled for a maximum of 720 hours. This includes 120 hours of Basic Life Support calls. During the ALS phase of the field internship a minimum of 130 Advanced Life Support calls in the appropriate categories is required to successfully complete the field internship.
